• Aggressive Pricing: Vi plans to offer 5G services at prices approximately 15% lower than its competitors, Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel. This strategy aims to attract price-sensitive customers and potentially ignite a price war in the Indian telecom market.
• Coverage: The rollout will initially focus on 75 cities across 17 priority regions, targeting urban and industrial hubs with high data demand.
• Network Enhancements: Vi has secured deals worth ₹30,000 crore with Nokia, Ericsson, and Samsung to upgrade its network. The company plans to deploy 75,000 5G base stations over three years, using a mix of 3.5 GHz and 1,800 MHz spectrum for comprehensive coverage.
• AI-Powered Optimization: Nokia’s MantaRay SON (Self-Organising Networks) will use machine learning to optimize over 1 million network cells, enhancing performance, energy efficiency, and reducing manual intervention.
• Financial Backing: Vi has received ₹24,000 crore in equity funding and expects an additional ₹25,000 crore in debt. Government support, including waived bank guarantees, further strengthens its position.
• Marketing and Expansion: Vi is increasing dealer payouts and marketing budgets to improve brand visibility and support its 5G launch.
